As an independent personal fitness trainer, I always get a ton of questions from my clients asking for my take on various diet plans, in-home exercise gear and workout programs that they've recently come across, or overheard their friends and work colleagues talk about in hushed tones. Typically (9 times out of 10) it involves the content of infomercials that they accidently stumbled across while flipping cable channels late night. Well for their benefit and hopefully yours, I want to humbly give my two cents regarding the Brazil Butt Lift Workout DVD.....the latest and certainly one of the sexiest at-home fitness workout programs to hit the market in recent months, rapidly climbing Amazon.com's bestseller list.
Designed by legendary Brazilian personal fitness trainer to
supermodels Leandro Carvalho, the Brazil Butt Lift is a medium intensity cardio
and lower body sculpting workout program. It is based on Leandro's secret
TriAngle Training Technique, which call for working all of the three major muscles
of the buttocks (gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus) and attacking them from
countless angles to lift, firm, and shape the perfect behind. So far so good as
far as to truth in advertising is concerned. The multi-angle technique is actually very effective at tone and shape other body parts as well such as arms, legs, chest,
etc.
Let's move on to what's in the box:
BRAZIL BUTT LIFT WORKOUT KIT - WHAT YOU GET FOR YOUR MONEY
The following is a quick overview of what each Brazil Butt Lift DVD workout package contains. I will also add a quick comment and grade as well.
- Three Brazilian Butt-Lift DVD's. "A".....see my comments in the next section below.
- Booty Basics Intro Video - Leandro gives tips on proper form as well as demonstrations some of his signature workout moves including his Triangle Training Secret. It's definitely important that you pay attention here to get the most out of this program. Its solid advice.....do not push fast forward :-) "A"
- Booty Makeover Guide with Booty Blueprint & Customizable Workout Calendars This booklet is split into two major chapters (1) the so-called Booty Blueprint helps you determine your body shape, (2) the Booty Makeover Calendars assists you to customize your workout for that shape. This is an easy read, so don't skip this. "B+"
- Fat Burning Food Guide - A meal planning guide filled with delicious,healthy Brazilian-inspired recipes with the emphasis on flavor. Haven't tried any of these dishes yet, but they sure sound tempting. I love South American cuisine. "A"
- Supermodel Slimdown Plan - This is a 6-day quick loss diet/meal plan followed by some of Leandro's supermodel clients, such as Alessandra Ambrosio and Fernanda Mota of Victoria Secret fame, before every photo shoot. Thankfully he is not recommending a starvation diet. The emphasis here is on healthy foods and especially cutting your carb and sugar intake.....similar to the South Beach Diet that you maybe familiar with. "B+"
- Triangle Training Workout Cards - These cards detail all of Leandro's signature moves, allow you to create .your own workout-on-the-go. I agree very useful when you don't have the DVD available for viewing. "A"
- Booty Resistance Band - A latex band used for lower-body resistance training to attack those hard-to-reach areas.....hips, glutes and saddlebags. You can buy better ones at almost any exercise equipment store, but these will definitely do the job for sure. "B"
- Measurement Tracker Card and Tape Measure. Good enough, plus convenient. "A"
- Booty Test Pencil - A test to measure you "Butt Lift" IQ before starting into the program. Test again every 30 days, and watch your butt lift. I haven't yet hit the 30-day mark yet, so it hard to judge out of the box. Personally, I think that you will be able to visually note the difference in 30-days if not sooner, pencil or no pencil, but I'll give Leandro the benefit of the doubt for now. "B+"

of Leandro's signature workout, "Bum Bum," for when you're short on
time. Be sure that you have the basics down first, before increasing the intensity. Other than that, it all good. You'll definitely will be burning more calories for sure! "A"

BRAZIL BUTT LIFT WORKOUT OVERVIEW
Here is a quick run down of all of the major Brazil Butt Lift
exercises covered in the 3-DVD package with my comments when appropriate
DVD 1 - Bum Bum
- Pre-workout
instructions, including a detailed walk through of all of Leandro's
signature moves.
- Basic warm-up exercises, followed by lower body sculpting routines (lots of squats, lunges, leg lifts) in an aerobic type of workout. (35 minutes)
- One-on-one training session
Overall, I like what Leandro is demonstrating here. Take it easy here, if you just starting out and may not be in the best of shape. Slow and steady.
DVD 2 - High & Tight, Sculpt Workouts
- High & Tight Workouts focus on all the major trouble spots....hips, butt and saddlebags. The DVD features lots of standing and floor resistance routines using exercise bands and ankle weights (35 minutes).
- Sculpt Workouts - Various exercise routines using
weights that again target the hips and butt, but also combines them
with some upper body exercises that focus on arms, chest, shoulders (45
minutes).
The exercise sets presented here are effective and will get you the results that you're after over time. Good stuff.
DVD 3 - Cardio Axe, Tummy Tuck
- Cardio Axe focuses on overall fat burning with 30-minutes of cardio dance-based routines set to a Brazilian beat.
- The 15-minute Tummy Tuck workout features exercises that really blast your abdominal like sit ups, crunches, leg lifts. Very traditional, but effective (15 minutes)
Love the Axe session.....Samba anyone? You will too if you love to shake your booty :-) You may even learn a step or two that you can show off on the dance floor. The Tummy Tuck section indicated above is nothing special but will get you results. No complaints here.

BRAZIL BUTT LIFT WORKOUT - PROS & CONS
Pros:
- In my professional opinion, all of the presented exercises are sound and will get your booty potentially in better shape than ever before.
- The instructor is easy to follow and knows how to keep it fun. This is very important if you're going to watch these discs over and over again in the coming weeks.
- Absolutely loved the Brazilian dance music (especially the samba tunes). Definitely not cheesy, really makes the time fly by.
Cons:
- The DVDs contain lots of commercials for other Beach Body products, but you can easily skip over them. Its a minor point, but I thought that I just mention it.
THE VERDICT....IS IT WORTH IT?
Although I've only been on this program for little more than 2 weeks, overall I think that the Brazil Butt Lift Workout DVD will actually live up to its lofty claims. If you stick with this program and watch what you eat....you will get results. Patience is golden. I recommend it to anyone (from beginner to intermediate) who is in the market for an effective, yet fun and motivating workout routine.
How about the cost? Given that this nearly amounts to what I charge my clients per hour, and what many people pay for the fitness club dues every month, I do think its a good investment.
Ultimately, I leave the final decision to you.
